The Backyard Beginning
Brothers Brandon and Zane Hunt host their first Detroit-style pizza pop-up in a backyard in Austin, TX. The response is overwhelming — lines stretch down the street and the pizza sells out in under two hours.
Via 313 was founded in Austin, Texas in 2012 by brothers Brandon and Zane Hunt — two guys from Detroit with a passion for the square, crispy-edged pizza they grew up eating. What started as a backyard pop-up quickly became one of the most talked-about food trucks in the city, drawing lines around the block every weekend.
The name via 313 is a nod to Detroit's area code — a tribute to the city that gave us this incredible style of pizza. Every pie we make is a love letter to those Detroit flavors: buttery, crispy edges, sauce on top, piled high with quality toppings and finished with Wisconsin brick cheese.
Today, via313 has grown to multiple locations across the United States, but our commitment to the original recipe — and to the city that inspired it — has never wavered.
From a backyard pop-up in Austin to a nationally recognized brand — here's how it all happened.
